On 2nd of March, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) and its principal conductor and artistic director Karel Mark Chichon received the Latvian Great Music Award for outstanding performance, and special prize by the awards ceremony general sponsor JSC Cēsu alus.

As a continuation of the successful collaboration of recent years, this year will also see Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, lead by the prominent Japanese conductor Tomomi Nishimoto and the Lithuanian conductor Robertas Šervenikas, give a series of concerts in some of Japan’s most prestigious concert halls in Osaka, Nagoya, Toyama, Shiga, Fukuoka and Tokyo.

Karel Mark Chichon and Elina Garanca proudly announce the birth of Catherine Louise Chichon, who has joyfully come to this world. Mother and little Katy are doing fantastically well and they are all looking forward to this new journey in their lives. The eminent birth of Catherine was the reason for the cancellation of Maestro’s opening concert with the LNSO and although he is very sorry for the inconvenience it caused he is sure that everybody will understand that his priority was and will always be his family.

Due to serious personal reason, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra chief conductor and artistic director Karel Mark Chichon will not conduct LNSO season opening concert on 29th of September in Riga. He will be replaced by new and promising Latvian conductor Mārtiņš Ozoliņš.
