Young maestro Fuad Ibrahimov surprised everyone with his vivid musicality and Eastern passion at the 2018 Svetlanov Competition in Paris – a top-level competition for the brightest conducting talents. At that time Fuad already had considerable experience, having conducted the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra and led the Baku Chamber Orchestra and the Munich Symphony Orchestra’s Young Philharmonic. His talent is best known in his native Azerbaijan, as well as in England, France and Germany. Now it will be known here too. The programme features Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, with its unforgettably timeless horn solo, and Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, so full of beauty that it feels like it could sustain five more concerts. The solo will be performed by the LNSO’s principal clarinettist Mārtiņš Circenis, unsurpassed in conjuring romantically rich cantilenas.
At 18:18, in the traditional “Pre-Concert Conversations” hosted by Orests Silabriedis, we will get to know Fuad Ibrahimov, who has kindly agreed to talk with us; we will hear some memorable excerpts from Mozart’s works and discuss the most significant themes of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony.
