Composed around 1980, Offertorium opens with an old Johann Sebastian Bach theme, interspersed with contemporary musical solutions. The closing movement of Johannes Brahms’ last symphony, the Fourth, also offers the audience a reference to Bach’s music, thus paying a subtle homage to the outstanding composer.
