On Sunday, 16 January, the Great Guild hosted the Riga premiere of the musical production for young people “Othello,” based on motifs from William Shakespeare’s play. Bringing together the creative talents of director Elmars Senkovs, artist Liga Zepa, composer Ernests Medins, the theatre studio ESARTE, and LNSO musicians, the production invites audiences to view the events of the famous play through everyday objects that surround us – in daily life, at home, or in particular life situations. The actors give these objects new meaning, presenting the already-familiar story in an unusual, fresh light.
