Programme:
Popular classical music from animated films

LeNeSOns has never been so excited. He has seen all sorts of wonders in front of a symphony orchestra, but now that he has been promised a look at SOUND itself, that seems a little too much. Sound is meant to be heard. Why look at it? No, LeNeSOns, this will be thrilling! When people say of music that it all but tears your heart out, they don’t mean it literally, do they? It is the same with seeing sound: you listen, and something is conjured up inside you that no words can describe and no brush can paint.

And this time the musical stories will be quite special, and every one of them from France. The versatile sage Camille Saint-Saëns will set skeletons dancing. Eerie, yet so beguiling that you cannot look away. The refined dandy and lover of exquisite things Maurice Ravel will tell tales of Laideronnette, Empress of the Pagodas, of Tom Thumb, of Beauty and the Beast and of fairy gardens. And the self-critical aristocrat of the fine arts Paul Dukas will let us in on how to master the magic arts in next to no time.
