Richard WAGNER – Concert version of the opera “Lohengrin”

The evening of 23 August will resound with a performance of Richard Wagner’s opera “Lohengrin”, sung by the soprano Magdalena Anna Hofmann, the mezzo-soprano Tanja Ariane Baumgartner and the tenor Corby Welch. The concert version is conducted by the young and brilliant American maestro Robert Treviño.

Robert Treviño comes as a guest at Andris Poga’s invitation – an expressive conductor of the younger generation from America with a fine career in Europe and Russia. Elsa, Lohengrin and Ortrud will travel to us, as is only proper, from Germany. The tenor Welch has sung Erik at the Latvian National Opera, while both ladies will be appearing in Latvia for the first time. Hofmann is a rising star – highly regarded in Germany and adored in France. Baumgartner is a fiery interpreter of dramatic roles in Europe’s finest opera houses and at the Salzburg Festival. And so the swan will graciously step out of the Cēsis castle pond and give us a magnificent evening of opera with truly outstanding stars.
