The young conductor Kaspars Ādamsons takes the podium with the LNSO. The first half of the concert brings the Violin Concerto by Pēteris Vasks, who celebrates a major anniversary this year, with Magdalēna Geka, currently studying in Paris, as soloist. Audiences will remember her superb debut with the LNSO in the autumn of 2014, when she played the solo part in Max Bruch’s First Violin Concerto. For that performance Magdalēna Geka was nominated for the Great Music Award in the category “Young Artist of the Year”.
The second half brings the LNSO film screening that was such a success at the Great Guild back in February. On the screen, the masterpiece of American silent comedy Safety Last! (1923), with the orchestra playing the original score composed for the screening by Platons Buravickis. Everyone who missed that sold-out concert in the winter now has a chance to catch up.
