The LNSO’s musical show for children “The Wind in the Willows”, which received an ovation at its premiere in Cēsis at the end of the summer, can at last be seen in Riga.

The children’s musical show is based on Kenneth Grahame’s well-known book “The Wind in the Willows”, whose main characters are the home-loving Mole, the easy-going river-dweller Rat, the spoilt and wealthy Toad and the wise recluse Badger.

This musical show will be an unforgettable adventure for audiences young and old alike, weaving music together with Kenneth Grahame’s much-loved story.
The characters will be brought to life by actors Mārtiņš Brūveris and Valdis Vanags, together with the LNSO chamber ensemble, with clarinettist and conductor Guntis Kuzma conducting.
The music for the show has been composed by the winner of the “Spēlmaņu nakts” award and the driving force behind the bands “Gaujarts” and “Manta”, Edgars Mākens, who writes music for productions at the National Theatre and the Valmiera Theatre.
The show is directed by Ģirts Šolis, chief director of the Latvian Puppet Theatre, who has created productions at Dirty Deal Teatro and elsewhere and whom we also know as the leader of the once popular band “umka.lv”; the set design is by Reinis Pētersons, an illustrator of children’s books and the designer of a number of theatre productions.
