BALTIC SYMPHONIC FESTIVAL. THE BALTIC PYRAMID – MUSIC BY BALTIC COMPOSERS AND TCHAIKOVSKY’S SERENADE
Friday
19:00
Venue Lielā ģilde, Amatu iela, Central District, Riga, Latvia

Meeting on one stage are the string players of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and the LNSO. Guntis Kuzma conducts: wise incantations are cast by the Lithuanian Šerkšnytė, lattice-like signs are forged by the Latgalian Ivanovs and Pärt strikes ritual bells. In the second half of the programme, LNSO concertmaster Georgs Sarkisjans leads the performance of Tchaikovsky’s Serenade, which embodies the finely strung ideals of the Russian Silver Age and in which the famous waltz never fails to captivate the listener.
