Karlsons’ “Dances of Life and Death” touches on the heroism and the fate of the Spanish national icon El Cid. Poulenc’s brilliantly stylised and captivating double concerto has father and son as its soloists. Stravinsky’s Petrushka, like a jumping-jack struck down by jealousy, goes where he should not and does what he must not. Here is a symphonic evening on a symphonic scale.

Before the concert, at 18.18 in the Münster Hall of the Great Guild, there will be a Pre-concert talk. In it Orests Silabriedis will talk with the composer Juris Karlsons and the conductor Andris Vecumnieks. Admission is free on presentation of a concert ticket.
