On 25 March, the Great Guild will present Jānis Šipkēvics’ major work – a musical show for teenagers, “Zenith”.
The composer wrote this song cycle in the summer of 2017 especially for the LNSO summer festival “LNSO vasarnīca” (LNSO Summer Cottage). The show takes the form of an emotional and dynamic account by Jānis himself and his former classmate, the cycle’s lyricist Marts Pujāts, of what they experienced during their school years.
A musical show for teenagers, “Zenith” – two singing boys paint a picture for the audience of the 1990s, the classrooms and corridors of the Riga Cathedral Choir School: riding the lift, writing dictations, playing “Super Mario” and dreaming of new boots.
School graduates and former classmates Jānis Šipkēvics and Marts Pujāts, with evocative music and witty poems, awaken the child that lives on in each of us for life. The show brings smiles, great joy, and the feeling of a vivid experience.
