The LNSO education programme’s resident staff member is LeNeSOns – a curious, lively creature who, together with the conductor and friends from puppet or shadow theatre (depending on the occasion), explores the beautiful secrets of classical music and the symphony orchestra. Concerts featuring LeNeSOns include storytelling, moving pictures, and solo parts performed by the best students from Riga’s music schools.
This time the spotlight falls on the Russian 20th-century genius Sergei Prokofiev – composer of music full of playfulness, light, wisdom and skill. What happens in his symphonic cycle of miniatures “Summer Day”? A slightly mischievous morning dawns, and before long the household is already playing at puppies; then, from who knows where, a self-assured waltz wanders in, followed obediently by a march; one figure whirls about in excellent spirits while another is struck by a moment of regret, and then evening has already arrived and all is calm, save for the moon slowly wading across the roof of the sky.
Children under five who do not occupy a separate seat must purchase a special ticket for €1.50.
Concert show for children in Russian.
