LNSO CHAMBER MUSIC. TANGO II
Thursday

Venue Lielā ģilde, Amatu iela, Central District, Riga, Latvia

This concert is the second installment in the tango music programme “Piazzolla and Galliano”, realised in 2016 with the very same line-up.

The idea’s author and initiator is Raimonds Melderis, and a classical chamber ensemble (string quartet and bass) meets accordion and guitar in a non-academic programme with refined and vital content.

Alongside the classic of tango music Astor Piazzolla, the new programme features a piece by Italian jazz accordionist Fausto BeccalossiTangamente. “Music is my alphabet,” says Beccalossi, who has performed with Gianluigi Trovesi, Al Di Meola, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and other giants.

Kārlis Lācis’s “Tango Variations”, originally recorded with the LNSO String Quartet for the Moscow Pushkin Theatre’s production of “Shakespeare in Love”, are here arranged for accordion, string quartet and bass, giving rise to an entirely new work awaiting its listeners on 21 March at the Great Guild.
