Alongside its core activity in the fields of symphonic and vocal-symphonic music, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO) presents a series of chamber music concerts each season, attracting growing audience interest in recent years. For LNSO musicians, performing chamber music fosters more attentive listening and deeper musical interaction among colleagues, which in turn enhances ensemble cohesion in the symphonic repertoire. For audiences, these programmes offer an opportunity to engage in a more intimate dialogue with the musicians and discover them in a new light.
The LNSO Chamber Music Series presents both traditional chamber music masterpieces and rarely performed works, while embracing a broad stylistic diversity and even interdisciplinary projects. It serves as a platform for the formation of both unique, one-off ensembles and lasting artistic collaborations. Among the orchestra’s established chamber music ensembles today is Dream Team, a cello ensemble founded by Diana Ozoliņa, Principal Cello of the LNSO. In addition, the chamber ensemble founded by violinist Raimonds Melderis presents a new tango programme almost every season.
