Ludwig van Beethoven composes his Missa solemnis during the period of his creative maturity. In the preface to the score, the author has inscribed: “From the heart — may it return to the heart!” In this composition, Beethoven explores new approaches to setting the liturgical text, and music critics acknowledge that his Missa solemnis rivals and even surpasses.
