BACH AND FAURÉ. A FORMULA FOR PEACE
Saturday
18:00
Venue Latgales vēstniecība GORS

At the centre of the programme – Gabriel Fauré’s in the French spirit, his Requiem for solo voices, organ, choir and orchestra. Austere and resolute in the manner of Gregorian chant, yet also warmly human and angelically gentle. The solo parts are sung by the possessor of a clear soprano voice, the Latvian coloratura soprano living in Lithuania, Gunta Gelgote and the accomplished possessor of a supple baritone from Germany, a rising star of vocal art, Johannes Held. The performance also features the Europe-renowned Latvian Radio Choir and Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. Conducted by LNSO’s artistic director Andris Poga. Before Fauré’s Requiem – a little Bach and a little Mozart music, well suited to Maundy Thursday.

Before the concert, at 6:18 pm in the Münster Hall of the Great Guild, there will be Pre-concert talks, hosted by Orests Silabriedis. Free admission with a concert ticket.
