Young Latvian musicians – clarinettist, 2018 Grand Music Award laureate Anna Gāgane, cellist Kristaps Bergs and pianist Linda Leine – have formed the ensemble “Trio Fabel” and will offer listeners an unforgettable chamber music programme.
The programme spans three different eras: classicism is represented by the giant Beethoven, the romantic era by Brahms, while contemporary Latvian music is represented by Evija Skuķe. While Beethoven’s Clarinet Trio belongs to his early-period works, Brahms’s Trio for Clarinet, Cello and Piano is one of the composer’s mature achievements. In 1890 he announced that the String Quintet in G major was his final work, yet a year later he nevertheless wrote this Clarinet Trio. It is a work steeped in romanticism, which, in Brahms’s characteristic manner, draws the listener into a stormy whirl of emotion.
Evija Skuķe, in turn, has dedicated her new work “Š” precisely to these musicians, united by their love of music, passionate music-making and true friendship.
