As part of the LNSO centenary celebrations in Riga and Cēsis, the outstanding Latvian violinist Baiba Skride joins the orchestra’s Principal Guest Conductor Kristiina Poska to present Sofia Gubaidulina’s profound sonic dialogue between conductor — whose gesture brings forth the collective voice of the orchestra — and soloist, in a work inspired by Martin Buber’s philosophy.
This concert also marks the beginning of composer Ilona Breģe’s residency in the LNSO’s 101st season, featuring her vibrant and energetically charged symphonic toccata UP‑TIME. In the second half, we immerse ourselves in the world of Gustav Mahler through his First Symphony — also known as the “Titan”.
