Rachmaninoff’s Fourth Piano Concerto is just as beautiful as its more famous siblings, the Second and Third, yet is heard far more rarely, and this rarity will be part of the “Summer Cottage” programme, with virtuoso Andrejs Osokins as soloist. In the second part of the concert – on precisely the right date – we will celebrate Bernstein’s 100th anniversary; we will hear songs and dances from his musicals, and the concert’s guest of honour will be Kim Criswell (USA), the vibrant, witty and energetic American singer and actress seasoned in musical theatre.
The concert takes place with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Latvia.
At 5:00 pm – Pre-concert talk “Was Bernstein a Latgalian too?”
Poet Raibīs and LNSO chief editor Orests Silabriedis talk and converse about the Latgalian language and Leonard Bernstein.
Kim Criswell (USA) – mezzo-soprano
