In the 2016–2017 season Kristīne Opolais will sing Rusalka and Mimì at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and Tosca under Simon Rattle in Berlin and Baden-Baden, but before that she has a gift for us – three solo concerts in Latvia. We may well hear an operatic hit or two, yet Kristīne’s new programme is built largely from music that is a rare guest in the programmes of opera singers. The sheer scale of the singer’s talent makes this concert one to look forward to, all the more so because it brings the first Latvian appearance of Sesto Quatrini, chief conductor of New York’s alternative opera house Bare Opera and assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera.
