In Munich in 2009, in an interview with Gunda Vaivode, director of Radio “Klasika”, Mariss Jansons said: “I have one dream, a long-held dream that sadly I have never managed to fulfil – I would dearly love to perform together with Raimonds Pauls. I really do adore him.” And later, in another conversation: “His music is simple, appealing and clear, like nature itself – here are beautiful flowers, here is a beautiful forest; that is how he is, and that is how he should be.” And now comes the celebration, with Jansons’s inspired gesture and Pauls’s inimitable touch.
