Ksenija SIDOROVA – accordion
Conductor Julien MASMONDET
Programme:
Georges BIZET – Symphony No. 1 in C major
Václav TROJAN – “Fairy Tales” for accordion and orchestra
Albert Roussel Suite No. 2 from the ballet “Bacchus and Ariadne”
Ksenija Sidorova opens the accordion like a book of fairy tales and plays the solo part in Václav Trojan’s Fairy-Tales. A young Frenchman steps onto the podium for this concert, and in his hands too are Bizet’s classically limpid, exuberant First Symphony and Roussel’s sumptuous tale, glinting with Dionysian appetite for life, of Ariadne on Naxos, of Bacchus and, of course, of the bacchanale, at whose climax a crown of stars snatched from the heavens is placed on Ariadne’s head.
