Gernot Wolfgang’s New York Moments truly embodies the energy of the city’s golden age — rhythmically pulsating, harmonically colourful and joyful music in which funk, blues and jazz influences merge organically. Édouard Destenay’s engaging trio combines the warmth of German Romanticism with the refinement of French lyricism, while Daniel Kessner’s Undercurrent/current highlights the inimitable voice of each instrument and gives the musicians room to improvise freely. The programme concludes with 3 Peccadilloes, whose inspiration lies in Rossini’s musical confession. Playful, witty and virtuosic, this programme will be a wonderful testament to the LNSO musicians’ mastery and musical interplay.
