Georgijs OSOKINS – piano
Conductor Andris POGA

Programme:
Franz LISZT: Piano Concerto No. 1
Béla BARTÓK: Bluebeard’s Castle

Cēsis Concert Hall welcomes the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, conductor Andris Poga, pianist Georgijs Osokins, bass-baritone Egils Siliņš, and Hungarian mezzo-soprano Dorottya Láng for an exceptional evening celebrating two masterpieces of Hungarian music.

The concert opens with Franz Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1, performed by Georgijs Osokins, one of the most distinctive pianists of his generation and the first Baltic artist to sign an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon.

The second half features Béla Bartók’s one-act opera Bluebeard’s Castle, a landmark of twentieth-century music. With Egils Siliņš in the title role and Dorottya Láng as Judith, Bartók’s haunting psychological drama unfolds through its richly coloured orchestral score and powerful vocal writing.

Bringing together internationally acclaimed Latvian musicians and one of opera’s most compelling masterpieces, this concert offers a rare opportunity to experience two contrasting yet complementary pillars of the Hungarian repertoire in a single evening.

Concert organized by Cēsis Concert Hall.
