LSM REVIEW
American avant-garde: early modernist Charles Ives poses unanswerable questions and fascinates listeners with powerful symphonic gestures. Classic film music: the renowned Hollywood film composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold generously lays cinematic impressions into his Violin Concerto, with no idea how a brilliant international competition laureate from Latvia would one day place it in her repertoire. And finally, French romanticism: the reserved master of the organ César Franck speaks movingly and openly in the colours of the symphony orchestra.
Pre-Concert Talk at 18.18 in the Munich Hall with Orests Silabriedis will feature violinist Kristīne Balanas. They will discuss whether or not the nerve of Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s Hollywood film music can be heard in his Violin Concerto, which will be performed at the concert.
