Programme:

César FRANCK Le Chasseur maudit

Henri DUTILLEUX Symphony no. 1

Maurice RAVEL Shéhérazade

Maurice RAVEL Daphnis et Chloé

In this concert, we will relive stories from around the world through the prism of French elegance and refinement: César Franck’s symphonic poem Le Chasseur maudit draws inspiration from The Wild Hunter ballad by German poet Gottfried August Bürger, Dutilleux uses the Spanish mourning procession dance passacaglia in the first movement of his symphony, while Ravel’s work touches upon the Eastern world through Scheherazade’s eyes and also the ancient world by setting an old love story to music. The LNSO will be joined on stage by guests from France: the owner of lucid voice Karen Vourc’h and maestro Jean-Claude Casadesus.

Concert is supported by the French Intitute in Latvia.
