Andrejs OSOKINS – piano
Conductor Vassily Sinaisky
Programme:
Andris DZENĪTIS Preludium. Light
Benjamin BRITTEN Piano Concerto
Gustav MAHLER Symphony no. 1
The image of light appears in Dzenītis’ music regularly and in a variety of ways. “A pantheistic landscape without text, without the presence of humans. Preludium. Light is a scene of a sunrise,” as described by the author. Britten’s Piano Concerto radiates the confidence, energy, and disarming virtuosity of the then young composer. Meanwhile, Mahler’s First Symphony is the pinnacle of the genre, but like many brilliant things in life, initially it was not widely acclaimed. This evening, the power of music will be demonstrated by the LNSO, the esteemed pianist Andrejs Osokins, and honorary conductor maestro Vassily Sinaisky.
