It has been proven time and again that percussionists fill the concert hall with energy and overflowing joy. This meeting, which is also an anniversary concert for long-time LNSO musician and percussion section principal Edgars Saksons, will be filled with contemporary, rhythmic music – featuring Buravickis’s musical score for a silent film, Lithuanian master Shenderov’s concerto for percussion, and Zaļupe’s tribute to his colleague and former teacher.
At 18.18, in the Pre-Concert Talk, LNSO percussion section principal and anniversary honouree Edgars Saksons will talk about his experiences in LNSO’s everyday life and on concert tours, share his impressions of the younger generation of percussionists, and say what he thinks of the birthday tribute written by his former student, now an excellent colleague, Rihards Zaļupe.
