MOZART. VASKS. VIVALDI’S FOUR SEASONS
Friday
19:00
Venue Lielā ģilde, Amatu iela, Central District, Riga, Latvia

Born in Linz and having studied in Salzburg and New York, Rolands Greiters is the long-time concertmaster of the symphony orchestra at Hamburg’s new wonder – the recently opened Elbphilharmonie. He has a close affinity with the music of Pēteris Vasks which he has performed extensively, and here Vasks’ beautiful love story Vox amoris, which will be heard at the Riga concert. Before Vasks’ opus comes one of Mozart’s graceful serenades. The concert culminates with Antonio Vivaldi ‘s famous “Four Seasons”, with birdsong, thunderstorms, hunting scenes, cosy fireside flames, and Greiter’s brilliant violin solo.

Concert programme available here.

Before the concert, at 6:18 pm in the Münster Hall of the Great Guild, there will be Pre-concert talks, hosted by musicologist Dāvis Eņģelis. Guest of the talk – composer Pēteris Vasks. Free admission with a concert ticket.
