The LNSO invites its youngest audience to the musical production “The Wind in the Willows”.
The children’s musical is based on Kenneth Grahame’s well-loved book “The Wind in the Willows”, whose central characters are the home-loving Mole, Ratty with his taste for a lazy life on the water, the spoilt and immensely rich Toad, and the wise recluse Badger.
The characters are brought to life by the actors Mārtiņš Brūveris and Valdis Vanags, together with the LNSO chamber ensemble and the clarinettist and conductor Guntis Kuzma conducting.
The music for the production is by the “Spēlmaņu nakts” award winner and moving spirit behind the bands “Gaujarts” and “Manta”, Edgars Mākens, who writes music for productions at the National Theatre and the Valmiera Theatre.
Director – Ģirts Šolis, chief director of the Latvian Puppet Theatre, who has staged productions at Dirty Deal Teatro and elsewhere, and whom we also know as the frontman of the once-popular band “umka.lv”. Set designer – Reinis Pētersons.
The show was warmly received at the LNSO’s second summer festival “Vasarnīca” and at the October performances in the Great Guild Hall. For children aged 5 and up.
