At the start of the 2023/2024 LNSO concert season, the LNSO Foundation introduced a new initiative — the LNSO FOUNDATION EXCELLENCE AWARD. The purpose of this award is to provide financial support to the most outstanding LNSO musicians, thereby recognizing their professional achievements. The project was created to address the issue of musician remuneration in Latvia and to counter the trend of exceptional musicians choosing to continue their careers in other European countries.
“Members of the orchestra are more than musicians — they are the heartbeat of a musical journey. In every concert, they invest emotion, skill, hard work, and soul to create an unforgettable experience for the audience. With each performance, they step into new roles, offering us a part of themselves and revealing new facets of culture. For them, this is not just a job — it is a way of life, a deep devotion that deserves recognition,” says Jānis Jenzis, Board Member of the LNSO Foundation, about the Excellence Award.
