On Saturday, 2 December, at 11:00 and 14:00 at the Great Guild, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO), conducted by Andris Vecumnieks, together with soprano Brigita Cirkse, invites you to the concert performance for children “LeNeSOns and Andersen’s Fairy Tales.” This time, the children’s friend – the puppet LeNeSOns – will introduce young audiences to the fairy tales of Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen, and during the interval will invite them to take part in creative activities.
Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen is the author of more than 150 fairy tales. We have grown up with them – as did our parents and grandparents, and perhaps even our grandparents’ parents. We have read his tales in countless books and watched them brought to life in vivid animated films and adaptations.
This time, presenting their own version of Andersen’s wondrous stories together with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra is conductor Andris Vecumnieks, who has performed in Estonia, Sweden, Slovakia and elsewhere. Vecumnieks is artistic director of the orchestra Sinfonia Concertante, which he founded, and has long served as conductor of the Emils Darzins Music Secondary School’s symphony orchestra.
This season, too, the acclaimed creative team behind the LNSO “LeNeSOns” concert series continues its work: director Paula Plavniece, playwright Klavs Mellis and designer Evita Beta. The puppet will be brought to life on stage by actors Agris Krapivnickis and Anastasija Rekuta-Dzordzevica, while soprano Brigita Cirkse will join the LNSO on stage.
