On Saturday, 9 July, as part of the “Cesis 2022” art festival, visitors to Cesis Concert Hall witnessed a striking cultural event – a full-length concert performance of Richard Wagner’s famous opera “Tristan und Isolde.” The last time this opera was performed in full for Latvian audiences was 100 years ago. Together with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andris Poga, the stage welcomed such European opera stars as Gun-Brit Barkmin (Isolde), Marco Jentzsch (Tristan), Martina Dike (Brangane), Oliver Zwarg (Kurwenal), Ain Anger (King Marke), as well as acclaimed Latvian opera soloists Mihails Culpajevs (Melot), Artjoms Safronovs (a Young Sailor / Shepherd) and Rinalds Kandalincevs (Steersman).
