Media information, 2 March 2023: the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO), together with conductor Andris Poga, returned last weekend from a concert tour in France, performing in three notable concert halls: the Grand Théâtre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence, the Arsenal concert hall in Metz, and the Grande Salle Pierre Boulez of the Paris Philharmonie. In Paris, renowned Latvian organist Iveta Apkalna performed as soloist with LNSO.
“The tour, which had been delayed by two years due to the pandemic and finally could happily take place, felt especially emotional to me. It was special to see how passionately and seriously the musicians prepared for each concert, playing with full dedication, and this resonated with the audience accordingly. To express my main feeling after the tour as a wish: when the dream of a Riga concert hall is finally realized, we hope it will be just as acoustically outstanding as the best halls we performed in in France,” says conductor Andris Poga.
