State Choir Latvija (Artistic Director: Māris Sirmais)
Conductor: Karel Mark CHICHON

Programme:
Richard WAGNER — Wesendonck Lieder
Gustav MAHLER — Symphony No. 2

After a longer pause, the LNSO celebrates a warmly anticipated reunion with opera star Elīna Garanča and the orchestra’s former Artistic Director Karel Mark Chichon — a meeting perfectly suited to the festive spirit of the LNSO centenary. Together on the stage of the Riga Congress Hall, they will present Richard Wagner’s manifesto of love — the deeply expressive, richly coloured and exquisitely beautiful Wesendonck Lieder — followed by Gustav Mahler’s monumental Second Symphony, the “Resurrection”. In this performance, the orchestra will be joined by the outstanding Latvian soprano Liene Kinča.

With this magnificent concert, the LNSO concludes its centenary celebration series, grateful for the privilege of sharing the magic of symphonic music with its listeners for more than one hundred years.
