Her international career began at the age of sixteen with the release of her debut solo album, Scherzo. In 2016, she received the prestigious ECHO Klassik Award as Young Artist of the Year for her album B-A-C-H. Ich ruf’ zu Dir.
Šimkus has performed with the English Chamber Orchestra, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra, the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra, and other distinguished ensembles. She has appeared in many of Europe’s leading concert halls and festivals. Her musical education has taken her to Latvia, Germany, Sweden, and Italy, where she studied with renowned teachers and was awarded several prestigious scholarships.
