Guntis Kuzma 2025/2026

Guntis Kuzma is one of Latvia's leading conductors and clarinetists. Since 2022, he has served as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra, following eight seasons as a conductor with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra.

A laureate of several international competitions, Kuzma received the Latvian Grand Music Award 2018 for his interpretation of Ādolfs Skulte’s Symphony No. 5 with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, as well as for his performance as soloist in Sebastian Fagerlund’s Clarinet Concerto.
He regularly collaborates with orchestras in Latvia and abroad as both conductor and clarinet soloist. While his repertoire spans the core symphonic canon, he is particularly committed to Latvian and contemporary music, having conducted and premiered numerous new works.
As a clarinetist, Kuzma has performed throughout Europe and the United States, made several acclaimed recordings, and has been an active advocate for Latvian symphonic music. Alongside his performing career, he teaches at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, where he served for many years as Head of the Wind Instruments Department. In 2022, he released his debut solo album in collaboration with pianist Agnese Egliņa.
