Since 2017, he has served as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, with his tenure extended through the 2026/27 season. He previously held chief conductorships with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, and the Graz Symphony Orchestra.
A regular guest at many of the world’s foremost opera houses, Chichon conducts at the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro Real Madrid, and Gran Teatre del Liceu, while appearing with orchestras including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.
Recent highlights include return engagements at the Metropolitan Opera, where he conducted La Bohème during the 2025/26 season and is scheduled to conduct Tosca in the 2026/27 season. An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, he has also earned widespread acclaim for his award-winning recordings, including the critically praised Dvořák orchestral cycle with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to music, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) and elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music.
