He is a member of Sinfonietta Rīga and the Orchestra of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, while simultaneously developing his conducting career. He is currently studying conducting at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and has further refined his artistry in masterclasses with the renowned conductor Paavo Järvi.
Alongside his orchestral work, Kuģis appears regularly as a soloist and chamber musician and is actively involved in the performance and promotion of contemporary music, including premieres of new works by Latvian composers. As a conductor, he has collaborated with Orchestra Rīga, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, and the B-Sharp String Orchestra, presenting programmes that range from the classical repertoire to contemporary music. His musicianship is distinguished by stylistic versatility, artistic precision, and a deep commitment to symphonic music.
