Mikēle Gamba 2025/2026

Michele Gamba is an acclaimed Italian conductor and pianist, recognized for his refined musicianship and versatile repertoire spanning Italian bel canto, the classical and Romantic canon, 20th-century masterpieces, and contemporary music.

Born in Milan, he studied piano and composition at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory, as well as philosophy at the University of Milan, before furthering his conducting studies in Vienna, Siena and London.
After serving as assistant to Sir Antonio Pappano at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and to Daniel Barenboim at the Berlin State Opera, Gamba quickly established an international career. He is a regular guest at leading opera houses, including Teatro alla Scala, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Washington National Opera, the Berlin State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Hamburg State Opera and the Semperoper Dresden.
Alongside his operatic work, Gamba frequently conducts major orchestras such as the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano. An enthusiastic advocate of contemporary music, he has premiered numerous new works while maintaining an active career as a pianist and chamber musician.
