Normunds Šnē

Normunds Šnē is one of Latvia's leading conductors, widely acclaimed for his interpretations of twentieth-century and contemporary music.

Since the founding of Sinfonietta Rīga in 2006, he has served as its Artistic Director and Chief Conductor, leading the orchestra to international recognition through acclaimed performances, recordings, and appearances at major European concert halls and festivals.
An accomplished conductor and oboist, Šnē has collaborated with leading orchestras in Latvia and abroad, conducting a broad repertoire ranging from Baroque and Classical masterpieces to contemporary works, including numerous world premieres by Latvian and international composers. His artistry is distinguished by musical precision, intellectual depth, and a strong commitment to championing new music.
Alongside his conducting career, Normunds Šnē is an accomplished oboe player whose extensive experience as a performer has profoundly shaped his distinctive musical perspective and collaborative approach. He is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Grand Latvian Music Award, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Latvia’s musical life.
